The StepAlpha Process Definition Methodology is a discrete set of activities for consultants and teams to use to rapidly and consistently define business processes and the related operational knowledge.

The methodology was then used to drive the design and development of a software solution, ProcessVista for teams and consultants. This software application is used to rapidly and fully define processes including the related operational knowledge into an IDEF compliant data model.

1) Current methods are ad hoc in nature, and therefore will always vary and result in some level of team conflict.

The "normal" knowledge transfer is paper based or is accomplished by "stick pads" and whiteboard debates that last for days. Either way, the results are in static documents that may be stored in a "system" but are rarely used beyond that tactical team.

In addition, ProcessVista has been engineered specifically for the additional downstream analysis and optimization activities that should be accomplished utilizing the same information. Finally, ProcessVista can be used to drive process transformation into the digital Enterprise technologies as a rapid requirements definition and dynamic configuration tool. ProcessVista is a critical tool that is long overdue. Designed for the Process Definition Methodology, ProcessVista facilitates process definition which includes the operational knowledge and best practices. The process model is based on IDEF standards and generates reports about the process. Flow diagrams and other information reports are generated by the system, each of which are compliant to the IDEF and ISO standards.

This is how the deliverables are "controlled" for consistency and the process definitions are repeatable. Teams utilizing ProcessVista are enabled to meet the challenges of their specific process initiative project in a cost effective and productive manner.
